Brent Saunders
Early Life and Education
Brenton “Brent” Saunders was raised in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania and graduated from Parkland High School. He continued his education in Pennsylvania, attending the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a bachelor’s in economics and East Asian studies. Brent also served as president of the student government board before graduating in 1992.
Brent then studied law at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, where he earned his J.D. in 1996. While pursuing his J.D., he expanded his studies to include finance and business, earning an MBA at the Fox School of Business at Temple University.
To help fund his studies, Brent worked as a furniture mover and as a clerk in a hospital at night. During this time, Brent discovered he could help others while still being involved in business, putting him on the path to a career in health care.
Career
Brent’s transition into the health care industry quickly led to a number of executive leadership roles. Notably, in 1999, Brent joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he made partner before the age of 30, focusing on regulatory compliance in health care.
Brent went on to work with Schering-Plough (now Merck) before joining Bausch + Lomb in 2010, serving as CEO until 2013.
He continued to grow his leadership expertise at several other companies, overseeing a series of mergers and acquisitions that ultimately led to his role as chairman, president and CEO of Allergan.
Brent returned to Bausch + Lomb in 2023, where he remains committed to solidifying the company as a leader in eye health.
CEO and Chairman of Bausch + Lomb
In 2010, Brent took on the role of CEO at Bausch + Lomb. He served as CEO, president and a member of the board of directors into 2013. In this short time, Brent spearheaded the company’s transformation by fostering a culture of innovation. This cultural shift not only revitalized the company’s product pipeline but also improved the way the company served its customers.
Brent returned to the role of CEO and chairman of the board of directors in March 2023. Brent’s deep understanding of the company, in addition to over two decades of executive leadership experience in health care, made him the ideal leader to take the helm.
